BOCA COVID outbread response playbook

Valued Providers,

Thank you for your leadership as we reopen child care statewide for RI’s children and families.

The RI Department of Human Services (DHS), in partnership with the RI Department of Health (RIDOH), has developed the attached Playbook to serve as a guide to child care providers in planning for a potential or positive COVID-19 case within their program. The goal of this Playbook, which is being translated into Spanish and both will soon be available on the Reopening RI [reopeningri.com] website, is to provide visibility into the process child care providers will engage in with RIDOH in different scenarios. The protocols included in this Playbook are in line with RIDOH’s overarching approach with child care providers to date. That said, the Playbook does not replace direct engagement with RIDOH, but rather gives an overview of what will occur throughout that engagement process.

The Playbook identifies clear protocols and recommendations for child care providers. In particular, guidance on what symptoms require consult with RIDOH are clearly detailed on slide 8.

The information shared in this document assumes child care providers and parents/guardians are complying with current RIDOH guidelines, DHS COVID-19 Child Care Regulations and CDC guidance [cdc.gov].

If you have questions pertaining to these protocols, please contact the RI Department of Health COVID team at 401.654.6990.

If you have DHS regulatory or programmatic questions, please contact the DHS Child Care Licensing team at DHS.Childcarelicensing@dhs.ri.gov.

All the best,
